Here are some things I found out owning a  D250

bulletCheck the steering box lube regularly.  If it runs out - big problems develop !
bulletCheck the rubber shift shaft bellows regularly ( under seat )- water can get into the transaxle if this is shot - I replaced mine with a piece cut from a nitrile rubber glove (thumb part) - fastened with a ty-wrap.
bulletChange the transaxle fluid regularly - it gets expensive if you have a lubrication related failure ( Water )
bulletAdding grease zerks to the tie rod ends is useless - they are permanently lubed - it doesn't make steering any easier.
bulletAdding a grease zerk to the clutch pedal where it rides on the shaft - made the clutch a lot easier to operate.
bulletUse European spec belts - the US size cross references really don't fit - no matter what they tell you
bulletIf you have a loader - I'd add the hydraulic oil filter.
bulletCheck your governor oil - you don't want problems there as well.
bulletCheck your valve clearances - at 500 hrs - mine were way loose - After adjustment, the engine was much quieter and had more power.
bulletMotoring the tractor backwards in 1st while applying  pressure to the axle lock lever - makes it easier to lock.
